Hill County is indeed a very special place. Very near and dear to my heart. My parents were both born and raised in Hillsboro. My Dad purchased the old Stephen Hampton survey near Whitney in 1962, and in the mid '60's, as a teenager, I remember an oil company(Sun Oil rings a bell)doing some exploration. I cannot find any records of what they did or didn't find. My Dad passed away in 2000 and my mother is in a nursing home in failing health. I tried looking for drilling records and any seismic exploration of any kind on the RRC website, but no luck. I just know that there was interest in that area more than 40 years ago. The Barnett Shale may have opened up a whole new door for all of us. Let's hope so.
